Projectile Material
- Slug: The primary projectile is typically a hardened lead alloy. While some premium sabot slugs use copper or brass, BPS standard sabot models are traditionally lead-based to balance cost and expansion.
- Sabot Sleeve: The projectile is encased in a high-density plastic sabot (sleeve). This plastic component engages the rifling of the barrel to impart spin and then discards upon exiting the muzzle.
Shell Components
- Casing/Hull: Constructed from a durable high-density plastic tube.
- Base/Head: Features a high brass-plated steel head to ensure reliable extraction and to contain the high pressure of the 1,600 fps “power” load.
- Primer: Uses a standard non-corrosive centerfire primer for consistent ignition in various weather conditions.
